Chris was born and raised in the lowcountry of South Carolina. He feels blessed to be able to have a career as a musician here.
He works hard at his craft and is continually practicing and refining his skills. Most recently, Chris has been facinated with Jazz and finds that Charleston is fast becoming a city where Jazz musicians challenge and encourage him to become better and better at this genre. Chris's other current interest, Latin Music, lead him to the idea of a Latin style version of the Bille Holiday classic, "God Bless the Child." You will hear the Chris Crosby Trio perform this on the "listen" page of this web site.
Chris loves all types of music. His older pop favorites include Steely Dan, Elton John, and Michael McDonald. Newer artists he likes include John Mayer and Ryan Adams. Growing up in the Baptist Church, he also is influenced by traditional church hymns. He enjoys covering classic country artists Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, and with older brothers, he couldn't help but to love classic rock bands like Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd, as well as the Doors and the Beatles. The list goes on and on, and we tried our best to fit as many as he could think of in one sitting on the "song list" page.
Such varied musical interests give Chris the ability to create a sound unlike any other. He loves to perform and is known for his uncanny ability to judge a crowd and play to everyone's enjoyment. This skill also enables him to know when to adjust the volume or song selection so that the music complements the occasion instead of dominating it. His goal is to see that clients as well as guests have a good time...and tell their friends about him!
